Barcelona head coach Hans-Dieter Flick addressed whether central defender Ronald Araujo is expected to return to the pitch in tomorrow's match against Athletic Bilbao.
Details: At the pre-match press conference ahead of the Spanish Super Cup semifinal against Athletic Bilbao, the Catalans' head coach commented on the potential return of Ronald Araujo and stated that no final decision has been made yet, but at the moment his appearance is not planned.
I want to talk to Araujo. No decision has been made yet—it takes time. If he feels ready, we might change something, but for now, his return is not planned," Flick said.
Recall that the Uruguayan defender has not played for Barcelona since late November, when he was sent off in the fifth round of the Champions League against Chelsea. He faced heavy criticism after that match, took it hard, and decided to reset spiritually by traveling to Israel.
It is worth noting that the Spanish Super Cup semifinal between Barcelona and Athletic will take place tomorrow, January 7, with kickoff scheduled for 20:00 Central European Time.
Reminder: Al Hilal defender Joao Cancelo will continue his career at Barcelona.
