The wait is almost over! Barcelona's new maestro gears up for his debut
Barcelona fans are about to finally see their new midfield general in action.
Details: According to journalist Roger Torello, Rodri is preparing for his debut with Barcelona this Thursday. The Spain captain missed the opening 5-0 rout of Elche as he builds up fitness following his move, but is now ready to make his first appearance for the Catalan giants.
Rodri joined Barcelona from Manchester City for a fee in the region of £65 million, signing a four-year contract and beating arch-rivals Real Madrid to his signature. The reigning La Liga champions host Athletic Club on Thursday, August 27, and Hansi Flick has already hinted that the 30-year-old midfielder could take part in that very match after joining his new teammates in training on Monday.
The anticipation around his debut is enormous, as Barcelona have pulled off one of the signings of the summer. It's worth noting that Rodri captained Spain to World Cup glory this summer and was named the best player of the tournament, adding that triumph to his 2024 Ballon d'Or.
Reminder: Touching. Rodri sends emotional farewell message to Man City fans.
