Six goals for bronze! North Korea humiliate Brazil in World Cup showdown
A bronze-medal clash turned into an absolute nightmare for Brazil.
Details: On Saturday, November 7, North Korea's women's U-17 national team demolished Brazil 6-0 in the third-place playoff at the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in Morocco. Kim Won-sim opened the scoring in the 11th minute, while Ri Ui-gyong doubled the Asian side's advantage shortly before half-time. The South Americans headed into the break two goals down and never managed to recover.
After the restart, Ri Ye-rim made it 3-0 before Ri Ui-gyong completed her brace with a spectacular strike from outside the penalty area. Brazil's defence continued to struggle against the relentless North Korean attack, and the closing minutes brought even more misery.
Yu Jong-hyang scored the fifth goal in the 85th minute, and just one minute later, Ri Kyong-im capitalised on a goalkeeper error to complete the demolition. North Korea secured the bronze medals, while Brazil finished fourth for the second consecutive edition of the tournament.
It's worth noting that North Korea are the most successful team in the history of the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup, having lifted the trophy four times: in 2008, 2016, 2024 and 2025.
