Saudi clubs’ massive budgets have posed a significant threat to European teams, raising concerns that wealthy Middle Eastern sides might lure players away with lucrative offers with consequences for the squad, especially in the final days of the transfer window. However, this threat appears to have been averted in January.

Details: Previously, the transfer windows in top European leagues and the Saudi Pro League were synchronized. This winter, however, that alignment will not apply. In Saudi Arabia, the transfer window will close on January 31, while in Europe, the deadline for transfers extends to February 3-4.

This means that if a European club sells a player to a Saudi side, there will still be enough time to find a replacement within Europe before the window shuts.

Reminder: The most prominent rumour involving Saudi clubs currently is the potential move of Real Madrid star Vinícius Júnior to the Middle East. However, the Spanish club has denied these reports.
