President of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF), Hussein Mohamed, has shed light on the federation's dire financial straits.

Details: Speaking at the FKF congress, Hussein laid bare the gravity of the situation. He informed delegates that the FKF is currently burdened with obligations exceeding 600 million shillings, making it extremely challenging for the federation to deliver on its key programs.

One of the most costly setbacks remains the case of former Kenya national team coach Adel Amrouche. His wrongful dismissal between 2013 and 2014 led the FIFA Players' Status Committee to order the federation to pay the coach 60 million shillings.

After an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), the compensation was increased to 109 million shillings. Due to delayed payment, FIFA deducted 5.5 million shillings from FKF’s FIFA Forward funds as a penalty.

And the troubles don’t end there: Mohamed also warned of a potential 18 million shilling fine tied to a disciplinary case involving Zoo FC, which was relegated to the lower division in 2021 over match-fixing allegations.
