Polish track and field athlete and Olympian Robert Wolski has passed away. The former high jumper, who represented Poland at the Athens Olympics, could not be saved. The athlete died on January 2 at the age of 43.
Details: The tragedy occurred on the second day of Christmas, when Wolski was involved in a serious car accident. His vehicle collided with another on a regional road between the towns of Piątek and Łowicz. He was urgently airlifted to Nicolaus Copernicus Hospital in Łódź by medical helicopter.
He sustained severe pelvic injuries and, despite the doctors' efforts, his life could not be saved — the athlete died several days after the accident.
Robert Wolski was a high jumper representing Poland. He competed at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, finished eighth at the 2006 World Championships, and was a two-time national champion — both indoors and outdoors. The Polish sports community mourns his loss.
The Dailysports editorial team extends its condolences to Wolski's family and loved ones.
