Manchester United is gearing up for a massive clear-out that could see up to 11 players leave the club—including captain Bruno Fernandes. This bold move is aimed at raising funds for the summer transfer window and accelerating the rebuild under Ruben Amorim.
According to The Sun, United is considering a sweeping overhaul combined with targeted signings. The club is on the lookout for midfielders, with Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest and Adam Wharton from Crystal Palace high on the priority list. They are also seeking a wide defender and another goalkeeper, despite the summer signing of Senne Lammens for £18 million.
The Portuguese manager, despite a tough start to the season, has received full backing from co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe. Amorim has been given a three-year mandate, but to make real progress, he needs to free up the wage bill and refresh key positions.
The main intrigue remains the future of Bruno Fernandes. His contract includes a clause allowing a move abroad for £57 million. Should he be sold, United would significantly reduce their wage expenses—Fernandes currently earns £300,000 per week.
Other high earners are also likely to depart: Marcus Rashford, Casemiro, Jadon Sancho, Harry Maguire, Manuel Ugarte, Joshua Zirkzee, Altay Bayındır, Tyrell Malacia, Rasmus Højlund, and Kobbie Mainoo.
