With this triumph, Guardiola continues his pursuit of the all-time trophy leader—Sir Alex Ferguson, who boasts an incredible 49 titles. The legendary Scotsman achieved this feat across a 39-year managerial career, while Pep has reached 40 in just 17 years. Currently, the top four most decorated managers in football history are: Ferguson with 49, Guardiola with 40, Mircea Lucescu with 38, and Carlo Ancelotti with 36 trophies.
This Carabao Cup victory also made history for Guardiola—he is now the first manager to win the competition five times (2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2026).
Guardiola’s journey to 40 trophies has spanned three clubs. With Barcelona, he captured 14 titles, including three La Liga crowns and two Champions League triumphs. At Bayern Munich, he collected 7 trophies, and at Manchester City, he has now amassed 19 pieces of silverware, highlighted by six Premier League wins and that long-awaited Champions League victory.
