Tomorrow, the transfer window officially opens in Spain, but clubs are already actively working in the market. Some teams are finalizing contracts with new players, while others are bidding farewell to current ones.
Previously, we reported on several high-profile transfers to La Liga clubs, but today it has been revealed that three Atlético Madrid players will leave the team this summer.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Memphis Depay, Mario Hermoso, and Gabriel Paulista will be changing clubs this offseason. All three players' contracts expire today, and they will leave the club as free agents.
The same information was confirmed by the club.
While the Dutchman and the Spaniard are waiting for lucrative offers, the Brazilian has already agreed to a contract with Turkish club Beşiktaş.
Memphis Depay played for the "Colchoneros" for two seasons. Before that, he played for Barcelona, Lyon, Manchester United, and PSV. The 30-year-old forward has made 40 appearances for Atlético, scoring thirteen goals and providing two assists. It is worth noting that Depay might not be the only forward to leave the club this summer, as there are increasing rumors about a potential transfer for Álvaro Morata. Atlético Madrid is already eyeing new players, with last season's La Liga top scorer Artem Dovbyk being a priority.
Mario Hermoso has spent his entire career in Spain and has been with Atlético Madrid since 2019. He has made 174 appearances for the Madrid club, scoring ten goals and providing six assists. With Hermoso, Atlético Madrid won the Spanish championship.
Gabriel Paulista played for Atlético Madrid for just one year. Before that, he played for Valencia, Arsenal, and several Brazilian clubs. He moved to the Spanish capital last summer as a free agent, signing a one-year contract. During this time, he failed to become a regular starter, making only five appearances.
Atlético Madrid is likely to have a busy summer, and the club will need to work diligently in the transfer market over the next two months to maintain their strength.
