A shocking decision.

Details: After 20 years with Red Bull Racing, Christian Horner has been shown the door.

The 51-year-old Horner has been dismissed from his position as team principal, with Laurent Mekies set to take over the role.

Details remain scarce—neither the Red Bull team nor Horner himself have officially commented on the decision.

Horner joined Red Bull in 2005, and in his very first season the team finished seventh in the Constructors' Championship. In 2006, Red Bull celebrated its first podium—third place for David Coulthard at the Monaco Grand Prix. Then, in 2009, Sebastian Vettel delivered the team's maiden victory.

In 2013, Christian Horner was awarded the Order of the British Empire, and just a year ago, he was promoted to Commander of the same order.

Reminder: Hamilton furious! The driver is unhappy with his car
