Argentinian fans are refusing to accept the painful defeat.

Details: Argentina supporter Gisela Sanchez has launched a petition on Change.org demanding a replay of the 2026 World Cup final against Spain. So far, the initiative has already been backed by more than 61,500 people.

The author of the petition has questioned the performance of Slovenian referee Slavko Vincic. According to her, several of the referee's decisions directly influenced the outcome of the decisive match, and therefore FIFA should review the controversial incidents.

However, no documentary evidence of the alleged violations has been presented. Moreover, such a petition has no legal force and cannot compel FIFA to overturn the official result of the match.

As a reminder, Spain defeated Argentina 1–0 in extra time. The only goal came in the 106th minute from Ferran Torres, and shortly before that, Argentina were reduced to ten men after Enzo Fernandez was sent off.

Interestingly, after their semifinal loss to Spain, French fans also demanded a replay — their petition gathered over 82,000 signatures but did not affect the outcome of the tournament.

Reminder: Scaloni reveals the reason for Argentina's defeat in the final – were the referees to blame?
