Rodri’s World Cup triumph has become a fresh source of anxiety for Manchester City.

Details: According to The Athletic, the 30-year-old midfielder is set to undergo surgery after suffering a back injury. Manchester City have yet to provide even an approximate timeline for his return to the pitch.

What makes the situation especially alarming is that Rodri started all eight of Spain’s matches at the 2026 World Cup, despite entering the tournament after a grueling season repeatedly interrupted by injuries.

Despite his health issues, the midfielder was instrumental in Spain’s title run and was awarded the Golden Ball as the tournament’s best player. Now, one of the World Cup’s standout stars faces yet another spell on the sidelines.

It remains unclear whether Rodri will only miss pre-season or if he will also be unavailable for Manchester City at the start of the new competitive campaign.

Reminder: It has been revealed whether Man City’s leader will stay at the club.
