MLS Week 14 Recap: Reus rescues LA, Orlando humiliate Miami, Toronto dominate the North

Matchday 14 delivered peak MLS drama: stunning derbies, comeback draws, and statement wins. Orlando City were the week’s biggest winners, dismantling Inter Miami 3-0 in Fort Lauderdale. Pedro Gallese made four key saves and assisted Luis Muriel’s opener as the Lions ended Miami’s 24-game home scoring streak.
In El Tráfico, LA Galaxy salvaged a 2-2 draw against LAFC thanks to Marco Reus. The German veteran scored twice, including a sensational 87th-minute free-kick equalizer, earning Player of the Week honors. Meanwhile, Alonso Martínez starred in NYCFC’s 2-0 Hudson River Derby win over the Red Bulls, with a goal and an assist.
Toronto FC humiliated rivals CF Montréal with a 6-1 thrashing in the Canadian Classique, as Federico Bernardeschi and Theo Corbeanu shined. In the West, Minnesota crushed a collapsing St. Louis CITY SC 3-0, and Djordje Mihailovic sealed Colorado’s 1-0 win in the Rocky Mountain Cup.
Elsewhere, Houston Dynamo lifted El Capitán after a smart 2-0 win over FC Dallas, while Sporting KC stormed back from 2-0 down to draw St. Louis in midweek. The “Hell is Real” derby ended 1-1, with Columbus dominating but lacking a true finisher in the post-Cucho era.
The table is tightening, and Rivalry Week proved once again why MLS is the league of chaos.
