The American-Canadian MLS League has found a way to reduce the loss of playing time during championship matches.

According to ESPN, new league rules will be introduced starting with the new season, which have already been successfully tested in the MLS Next Pro league.

The first change will concern the replacement of a football player during a match. Now a player will have 10 seconds to leave the field. If the player does not have time to leave the field within the allotted time, then the partner entering the field in his place will have to stand outside the game for an additional minute. However, this rule will not apply when replacing a goalkeeper or an injured player.

Another rule relates to injuries to football players. If an injured player does not leave the field for 15 seconds, he will be allowed to return to the game no earlier than two minutes later. If a red or yellow card was shown for a foul, then the rule will not apply.

In addition, referees will announce VAR decisions throughout the stadium as matches progress.
