Manchester United are looking to maximize their earnings from player sales in the current transfer window. However, it’s unlikely the club will be able to offset its transfer missteps.

Details: According to Simon Stone of the BBC, while Manchester United will make efforts to recover the £72 million spent on striker Rasmus Højlund, those attempts are expected to fall short, and Old Trafford won’t come close to receiving that amount.

Quote: “He could end up as an expensive backup or United might try to sell him, but they won’t get anything like the £72 million they paid. This is a broader issue for the club, and for Rúben Amorim this summer.

I think they’d like to make a lot of signings this summer, but they also have plenty of players on contracts who haven’t lived up to expectations and aren’t worth what was paid for them. Every sale could mean a financial loss, and they can only offload so many players,” Stone said.

Reminder: It was previously reported that Manchester United are considering swapping Højlund with Napoli for Victor Osimhen.
