Lisandro López has officially joined Belgrano de Córdoba and opened up about his departure from Olimpia, where he played the first half of the year in both the Paraguayan Apertura and Copa Libertadores.
“From the moment I started talking to Belgrano, it was my priority,” the 35-year-old Argentine center-back said during his unveiling. “I had a good relationship with Olimpia's president, and they didn’t oppose my departure. They had strengthened the squad to compete in the Libertadores, but things didn’t go well, so the timing felt right.”
López also emphasized how welcome he felt by Belgrano: “Belgrano always appealed to me. There’s nothing better than feeling important. The president, the coaching staff, even teammates like Franco Jara called me to come. I always go where I feel valued.”
In his stint with Olimpia, López made 19 appearances and scored three goals — two in the league and one in the Libertadores. Now, he’ll look to bring his leadership and experience to Belgrano in the second half of the season.
