ASEC Mimosas qualify for the second preliminary round of the CAF Champions League
The Ivorian Ligue 1 champions secured their place on Sunday following the second leg of the first qualifying round.
ASEC Mimosas continue their quest for a place in the group stage of the 2026–2027 CAF Champions League. Following a 1–1 draw in Lomé, Togo, last week, the Mimos secured their place in the next round on 13 September in the second leg.
Hosting ASCK of Togo this Sunday at the Félix-Houphouët-Boigny Stadium in Abidjan, ASEC Mimosas emerged victorious. However, the Ivorian club found themselves trailing in the first half. Yandoubouame opened the scoring in the 45th minute to give ASCK a 1–0 lead just before half-time.
But the Togolese side were reduced to ten men in the second half, which turned the game on its head. ASEC Mimosas capitalised on their numerical advantage to turn the game around. Sou equalised in the 59th minute to make it 1–1 before putting the Mimosas ahead with another goal in the 68th minute to make it 2–1, scoring a brace.
This valuable victory sees ASEC Mimosas qualify for the second preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.
