German football institution 1860 Munich have found themselves in a difficult financial situation, one that will have major consequences for the team's future.
Details: According to Sky Sports, 1860 Munich failed to meet the financial requirements set by the German Football Association and, as a result, were not granted a licence to compete in Germany’s third division.
The failure to provide proof of financial liquidity on time was reportedly caused by unmet funding commitments from shareholder Hasan Ismaik and companies associated with him. In total, the Lions are facing a shortfall of €2.7 million.
As was the case in the 2017/18 season, the Lions will now be forced to compete in the Bavarian Regionalliga, the fourth tier of German football.
Reminder: Bayern recently announced that a former club defender has been appointed as the new head coach of Bayern Munich II.
