Juan Fernando Quintero Set to Leave América de Cali, Eyes Future in Italy

Juan Fernando Quintero's highly anticipated spell at América de Cali may be coming to an early end. The Colombian playmaker, who signed with the club amid much fanfare in early 2025, is reportedly ready to move on due to financial disagreements with the club's management.
Renowned analyst Carlos Antonio Vélez stated, “Juan Fernando Quintero is going to Italy,” suggesting that the player will spend his vacation there and likely finalize his next move abroad. While Quintero has publicly said he's yet to decide on his future, this latest development points to an imminent departure.
The deal that brought Quintero to América involved a financial agreement with Racing Club and salary commitments from América, some of which reportedly remain unpaid. According to Vélez, the midfielder has only received a small fraction of what was promised.
On the pitch, Quintero played 14 matches in Colombia’s Liga BetPlay, scoring three goals and adding three assists. In the Copa Sudamericana, he made seven appearances and delivered two more assists.
While his family remains in Cali, a return to Colombian football can't be ruled out—provided a club steps forward with an offer that meets his financial demands. For now, all eyes are on Italy, where Juanfer is expected to chart the next chapter of his career.
