Here we go! Ballon d'Or winner changes clubs: Romano confirms transfer bombshell
Barcelona is pulling off the biggest transfer coup of the summer.
Details: According to renowned insider Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona has reached a full agreement with Manchester City for the transfer of defensive midfielder Rodri. The Catalan giants will pay €60 million as a fixed fee plus an additional €16 million in bonuses. The Spaniard is set to sign a four-year contract with the Blaugrana.
According to The Athletic, the total package is valued at €76.5 million. Manchester City gave the green light to the deal only after Barcelona’s third attempt: the initial €45 million bid was rejected, and the Citizens originally demanded €80 million for their captain.
Sources report that Rodri’s salary at Barcelona will be around €30 million gross per season, which effectively places the Spaniard among the club’s highest earners, filling the spot left by Robert Lewandowski.
Meanwhile, Manchester City is already on the hunt for a replacement. Their top target is said to be Enzo Fernández from Chelsea, but the London club values the Argentine at around £120 million. In addition, should Fernández arrive, Tijjani Reijnders could be on his way out.
Reminder: After the Araujo transfer, Liverpool targets another Barcelona star.
