He can't be stopped! Raphinha breaks Messi's record
Raphinha simply cannot stop scoring.
Details: Barcelona forward Raphinha has written his name into the club's history books after scoring against Feyenoord in the Champions League. The Brazilian became the first Barcelona player ever to find the net in each of the team's opening five official matches of a season across all competitions.
Raphinha needed only three minutes to extend his remarkable streak against Feyenoord. He opened the scoring at Spotify Camp Nou and later struck again, completing a brace as Hansi Flick's side claimed an emphatic 5-1 victory in their opening Champions League match of the campaign.
The achievement also allowed Raphinha to move beyond a mark previously reached by Lionel Messi. The Argentine scored in Barcelona's first four official matches of a season on two occasions, in the 2011/12 and 2012/13 campaigns, but never extended that sequence to five.
There is an important historical distinction. César Rodríguez in 1950/51 and Zlatan Ibrahimović in 2009/10 both scored in each of Barcelona's first five LaLiga matches. Raphinha's record, however, concerns the club's first five official matches of the season across different competitions.
It is worth noting that Raphinha has now scored eight goals in only five appearances for Barcelona in the 2026/27 season. Six of those goals came in the opening four LaLiga rounds, with another two arriving against Feyenoord in the Champions League.
