Details: In the second half of the Champions League Matchday 1 clash with Barcelona, Feyenoord finally managed to put the ball into the Catalans' net. In the 59th minute, Nacho Ferri finished after a scramble inside the penalty area, but the goal was ruled out because an offside position had been detected earlier in the move. Barcelona were leading 3-0 at the time.
The VAR graphic shown after the incident immediately attracted attention. The margin on the offside image is extremely small, with the attacking player positioned only narrowly beyond the line used to determine the decision.
Nevertheless, the decision stood and Feyenoord's goal was cancelled. The episode came shortly after Barcelona had scored their third goal, so the Dutch side were denied the chance to immediately reduce the deficit.
Barcelona had taken control of the match early. Raphinha opened the scoring in the third minute, Karim Adeyemi doubled the advantage in the 22nd minute, and Raphinha struck again in the 57th minute to make it 3-0 before Feyenoord's disallowed effort.
It is worth noting that Feyenoord paid around €9 million for 21-year-old Spanish forward Nacho Ferri this summer. In the Dutch club's previous Eredivisie match against NEC, the striker also registered an assist.
