After the Araujo transfer, Liverpool targets another Barcelona star
Liverpool have set their sights on Barcelona defender Jules Koundé. According to Mundo Deportivo, the Merseyside club is considering a move for the 27-year-old Frenchman, who could bolster the team's right flank in defense.
After Trent Alexander-Arnold's departure to Real Madrid, the Reds signed Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen, but the Dutchman's Premier League debut was far from smooth due to fitness issues. Meanwhile, Conor Bradley is still recovering from a serious knee injury.
This summer, Liverpool have already strengthened their back line by bringing in Ronald Araújo from Barcelona. The Uruguayan is capable of playing at right-back, but new head coach Andoni Iraola is eager to have another option on that side.
Reports suggest Barcelona are willing to consider selling Koundé for a substantial fee. The player himself is not interested in leaving Camp Nou, having recently signed a contract until 2030. However, next season the defender may face increased competition for a place in the starting lineup. Transfermarkt currently values Koundé at around £51 million.
