FIFA confirmed on Wednesday the financial distribution for the 2025 Club World Cup, which will be held in the United States from June 14 to July 13. The governing body of football announced a historic prize pool of one billion dollars to be distributed among the 32 participating clubs, making the tournament the largest cash prize event in football history.
Of that amount, 525 million dollars will be distributed just for participation, while the remaining 475 million will be linked to sporting performance, as detailed by Marca. Each victory in the group stage will award 2 million dollars and each draw one. From the round of 16 onwards, the prizes increase: 7.5 million for those advancing to that stage, 13.125 million for reaching the quarter-finals, 21 million for semi-finals, 30 million for the runner-up, and 40 million for the champion. If a club were to win all its matches, it could take home up to 125 million dollars.
CONCACAF teams like Pachuca, Monterrey, Inter Miami, and Seattle Sounders will receive 9.55 million dollars for participating. This figure is also assigned to clubs from Asia and Africa, while UEFA will handle higher and variable amounts according to an internal ranking, with figures ranging from 12.81 to 38.19 million. Clubs from CONMEBOL will receive 15.21 million, and those from Oceania will receive the least: 3.58 million.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino emphasized that a quarter of the total, or 250 million, will be allocated to the global development of club football. The 2025 Club World Cup, with this prize and investment model, will mark a turning point in the international football economy.
