"FIA has other priorities right now." Leclerc backs Verstappen and Hamilton
Recent requests from the FIA have not been well received by Formula 1 drivers, who believe the motorsport federation should focus on more important matters.
Details: Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc joined his fellow competitors in expressing that the FIA has other priorities rather than restricting drivers' language, arguing that at speeds of 300 km/h, there is no time to carefully choose words.
Quote: "I think the FIA has other priorities at the moment. In the end, we are adults, and we are one of the only sports where you hear the athlete speak during the event. I'd ask the FIA to maybe cut out some of the bad words and not broadcast them so often. That's pretty easy to do. But controlling your words when you're driving at 300 km/h between walls on a street circuit is quite difficult," Leclerc said.
Reminder: FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem recently asked drivers to swear less on air, a request that was criticized by Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton. Verstappen was particularly brief in his response, as he had recently been penalized for swearing.
