Esperance coach ahead of their second leg tie against Mamelodi Sundowns: We will come back with the result in South Africa and go through to the final
Esperance’s victory away from home against Egyptian powers Al-Ahly has Denis Onyango in a bi of fright the Tunisian side can do that against Mamelodi Sundowns this weekend.
The Sundowns goalkeeper has seen the quarterfinal results of this season’s Caf Champions League and Esperance’s unthinkable 3-2 victory in Cairo has made him see this weekend’s match differently.
In Tunisia, Onyango’s Sundowns clinched a 1-0 win which gives them a sort of advantage going into this Saturday’s return leg in Pretoria.
But the former Uganda goalkeeper does not want his team-mates to rest on their laurels and see a place in the final as a certainty.
“It’s not yet over. It’s like half-time right now,” said Onyango as per FarPost.
“We are in the lead, but we can’t take them for granted because we saw they won away in Egypt against Al Ahly.
“We know they are a fighting team. But we also have the quality to cut them and get more goals. We have good players, quick players and the quality.”
Sundowns host the North Africans on Saturday at Loftus Versveld at 3pm.
