Cavani Shuts Down Danubio’s Interest, Commits to Boca Juniors

In the wake of Boca Juniors’ embarrassing early exit from the Club World Cup, Edinson Cavani has once again come under fire for his lack of goals and declining form. Amid this turmoil, a sentimental message arrived from across the Río de la Plata. Danubio sporting director Gustavo Matosas, once Cavani’s mentor, posted a nostalgic Instagram story asking, “Are you happy where you are today? You know your home is waiting for you.”
Cavani, now 38, wasted no time in responding. Sharing the story, he wrote: “Yes, I’m happy—and most of all, stubborn. I’ll keep trying until the last day,” adding laughing and muscle emojis. His reply reaffirmed his commitment to Boca, where he’s under contract until the end of the year.
Though no longer at his peak, Cavani remains a respected leader within the squad. His agent, Walter Guglielmone, made it clear in a recent interview: “Cavani is not leaving Boca. The only way he would is if Riquelme asked him to.” As Boca regroups under Miguel Russo, Cavani is set to stay and fight for his place.
