Colombian winger Sebastián Villa may soon be heading to Brazil. According to TyC Sports, three top-tier Brazilian clubs – Gremio, Atlético Mineiro, and Cruzeiro – are interested in signing the Independiente Rivadavia forward to strengthen their squads for the upcoming Copa Sudamericana matches.
Villa, who was convicted of gender-based violence in Argentina, has revived his professional career after a short stint in Bulgaria and a subsequent move to Argentina’s Independiente Rivadavia in mid-2024. Since joining the Mendoza-based side, Villa has rediscovered his form, becoming one of the standout performers and attracting attention once again from bigger markets.
Gremio previously tried to acquire Villa in the last transfer window, but their offer was rejected by Independiente Rivadavia for not meeting financial expectations. This time, the Porto Alegre club is expected to return with an improved proposal. Their goal is to reunite Villa with former Boca Juniors teammate Cristian Pavón, who currently plays for Gremio and has a contract until 2026.
Between 2018 and 2021, Pavón and Villa played 54 matches together for Boca, contributing a combined 13 goals. Gremio hopes to recreate that partnership as part of their offensive rebuild. For now, Villa remains a key player for Independiente Rivadavia, but his next move could bring him back to the continental spotlight.
