Barcelona Shifts Focus to Muñoz as Potential Right-Back Solution

Barcelona is reportedly stepping back from its interest in Luis Díaz and has turned attention toward Daniel Muñoz, the Crystal Palace full-back and key figure for the Colombian national team. As reported by Jhon Edison Sandoval Castro, Barcelona’s sporting management, led by Deco, is exploring South American options, and Muñoz has recently gained traction within the club.
The 29-year-old Antioquia native has impressed in England with his attacking drive, defensive consistency, and physical endurance — qualities that have earned him recognition as one of the continent’s top right-backs. Palace had recently renewed his contract until June 2028.
At Barcelona, the need for a reliable presence on the right side remains pressing. Jules Koundé, though capable in the role, prefers to play as a center-back. Young academy product Héctor Fort is still considered by new manager Hansi Flick as not yet ready for high-stakes matches, prompting the coaching staff to seek an immediate upgrade.
With experience on the international stage and a solid track record in the Premier League, Muñoz emerges as a realistic option: effective, low-profile, and ready to contribute — aligning well with Barcelona’s current transfer strategy under Flick’s guidance.
