Avoided a historic failure. Milan defeated Inter for the first time in two years
In the fifth round of the Italian Serie A, the Milan derby took place. The match was exciting and tense, with the winner being determined only just before the final whistle.
Milan surprisingly started strong. Initially, Morata missed a great opportunity to score, but a few minutes later, Pulisic opened the scoring. The American made a brilliant solo run, entered the penalty area, and accurately shot into the corner of Sommer's goal. The "Nerazzurri" quickly equalized when Dimarco combined with Lautaro Martinez and scored with a powerful shot.
In the second half, the teams battled evenly, but the "Rossoneri" looked slightly closer to victory. In the middle of the half, the referee awarded a penalty against Inter, but after reviewing it, he reversed his decision.
Paulo Fonseca's side finally got their reward when Matteo Gabbia headed in a cross from Reijnders. Milan managed to end their six-match losing streak against Inter. Interestingly, neither team has ever won seven consecutive matches in the history of the Milan derby.
