Wolves Extend Mosquera's Contract Amid Injury Recovery

Wolverhampton have shown strong faith in Colombian defender Yerson Mosquera, extending his contract until 2030 despite a serious knee injury that has kept him out since September. The Premier League club made the announcement on Monday, highlighting Mosquera's potential and dedication to recovery. The news was first reported by FutbolRed.
The 23-year-old center-back, who joined Wolves from Atlético Nacional in 2021, tore both his ACL and MCL during a match against Aston Villa earlier this season. It was his second major setback since arriving in England, having already missed significant time following his debut against Tottenham. Still, Mosquera impressed the club during the early part of this campaign, starting five matches before his injury.
Wolves manager Vítor Pereira praised the young defender’s qualities and character. “Yerson has everything I look for in a center-back: he's aggressive, strong, fast, and good with the ball. Even while injured, he’s constantly around the squad, lifting spirits and showing leadership,” said Pereira. Mosquera is also on the radar of Colombia head coach Néstor Lorenzo, though his current condition has ruled him out of recent call-ups. He is expected to rejoin training at the start of preseason.
