At the 2024 Olympic Games, the women's pole vault qualification round took place, and it did not lack surprises.
The most astonishing development was that the holder of the best world season result in pole-vaulting, Molly Caudery from Great Britain, will not compete in the final. Unexpectedly, she decided to start her qualification at a height of 4.55 meters and failed to clear it. She knocked the bar down three times and was thus eliminated from the final.
In total, 20 athletes will compete in the women's pole vault final. Eleven of them qualified by clearing 4.55 meters, while nine others made it to the final with a height of 4.40 meters, which also became a qualifying mark.
This makes Molly Caudery's failure to advance even more sensational.
Additionally, there was a sensation in the final of the gymnastics balance beam competition.
