Eight in a row! Harry Kane's Champions League streak reaches historic territory
Harry Kane cannot stop scoring in the Champions League: the Bayern striker has now found the net in eight consecutive games in the competition.
Details: Kane opened the scoring early against Bodo/Glimt at the Allianz Arena on Thursday night, extending his streak to eight straight Champions League matches with at least one goal. The strike was his 55th career goal in the competition, further cementing his status as the most prolific Englishman in European Cup history.
The run is the stuff of legends. Only a handful of players, Cristiano Ronaldo among them, have ever strung together a longer scoring sequence in this competition, and Kane, at 33, is doing it while leading the line for a Bayern side chasing its first European crown since 2020. The numbers behind the streak are absurd: since arriving in Munich in 2023, no player has scored more Champions League goals, and last season he hit 50 club goals in just 42 matches, a club occupied until now by Messi, Ronaldo and Gerd Muller. Against the Norwegians he needed barely ten minutes to keep the sequence alive, a reminder that even on nights when Bayern labor, their number nine delivers.
It's worth noting that Kane long ago passed Wayne Rooney's record for most Champions League goals by an Englishman, and at 55 he is now hunting down the competition's all-time top five.
