The Falconets and the Chinese side were unable to break the deadlock until the final whistle.

On Thursday 10 September, Nigeria played their second match at the U-20 Women’s World Cup, which is taking place in Poland. The Falconets faced China at the Arena Sosnowiec.

But it was a hard-fought battle right to the end. There were chances at both ends, yet neither side could find the back of the net. A free-kick from Janet Akekoromowei could have found the back of the Chinese net, whilst a well-taken corner was saved by the Chinese goalkeeper.

Moses Aduku’s side continued to press but could not find a way through. The match therefore ended goalless at the Arena Sosnowiec.

This draw nevertheless allows the Falconets to secure their first point at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, Poland 2026. The Nigerians’ opening match in Group F had ended in a 2–0 defeat to Spain.

Thanks to this draw, the Falconets’ hopes remain alive in the tournament. Their final Group F match will be against New Caledonia.
