One of the largest hearings in the history of English football is currently taking place in England, concerning 115 alleged Financial Fair Play (FFP) violations by Manchester City. Although the case could transition to court in mid-December, it’s still too early to talk about a verdict.
Details: Former Manchester City financial advisor Stefan Bornson has stated that due to the large volume of materials, even an initial verdict should not be expected before the end of May. The case is being heard in separate sessions, which is delaying a swift decision.
Quote: "I think the main takeaway from the delay is that getting a decision will take a long time due to the volume of documentation that needs to be reviewed and the number of witnesses who have to testify before the committee. I doubt it will take a year before we get a decision, but I think it’s unlikely we’ll get anything before the end of March. We might not even get an initial decision until the end of May."
"We also understand from some materials that this is a separate hearing. A separate hearing means that the question of responsibility is being considered, which is happening now, and then, if City is found responsible, a verdict will be issued and sanctions will be applied. Even if a decision is made by March, there is still a long way to go," said Bornson to Football Insider.
