Barcelona could be heading for trouble.
Details: Today, Atlético Madrid's official channel on social network X published a statement announcing that the Madrid giants are filing a complaint with FIFA against Barcelona over the potential transfer of their 26-year-old striker Julián Álvarez.
The statement reads:
“It is our duty to defend Atlético’s interests, and that is why we are going to file a complaint with FIFA against Barcelona for negotiating with a player under contract during the protected period.”
This means Álvarez’s move to Barcelona could hit major roadblocks because the Catalans are negotiating with the player without Atlético’s involvement.
According to Transfermarkt, Julián Álvarez’s transfer value is estimated at €100 million, and his contract with Atlético runs until 2030.
