The renowned Belgian striker Michy Batshuayi has joined Galatasaray as a free agent. His contract with the "Lions" extends until the summer of 2027.

Interestingly, Batshuayi's previous club was Galatasaray's fierce rival, Fenerbahçe. In the 2021/22 season, Batshuayi was on loan at another Istanbul giant, Beşiktaş.

Batshuayi is the first foreign player to have played for all three of Istanbul's major rival clubs. Six Turkish players have previously achieved this feat: Burak Yılmaz, Emre Aşık, Caner Erkin, Mehmet Topal, Sergen Yalçın, and Mehmet Yozgatlı.

Last season, Batshuayi scored 12 goals in 27 matches in the Turkish Süper Lig, bringing his total to 38 goals in 79 appearances in Turkey's top tier.

It is worth noting that Galatasaray won the Turkish championship last season.
