It is reported that following public threats from US President Donald Trump, who stated that Iranian players should not set foot on US soil as it would be dangerous for their lives, the Iranian management immediately appealed to FIFA to change the location of their training base.
Initially, FIFA was skeptical about this option, but just over two weeks before the start of the World Cup, Iran finally received the green light to move to Mexico.
At the World Cup, Iran is in Group G, where they will face Belgium, New Zealand, and Egypt.
