The Iranian national team's participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup is now under threat just 28 days before the tournament kicks off.
Details: According to RMC Sport, the president of the Iranian Football Federation, Mehdi Taj, expressed serious concern this Thursday that not a single member of the national team has yet received a US visa.

The situation is further complicated by heightened geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and a lack of diplomatic relations between Tehran and Washington since 1980.
The head of the Iranian federation announced a decisive meeting with FIFA in the coming days, during which he will demand guarantees for a solution to the visa issue. Despite FIFA President Gianni Infantino's assurances that Iran will play its matches in the US as scheduled, there has been no real progress on obtaining the necessary documents so far.
The squad is expected to travel to Ankara next Monday for fingerprinting and the start of their pre-tournament training camp.
Reminder: Five players from the Iraq national team have been denied US visas ahead of the World Cup.
