The biathlon season kicked off with the first individual races of the World Cup stage in Kontiolahti, Finland. During one of these races, a near-tragedy occurred as one of the athletes experienced serious health issues.

Details: Before the final shooting range, Norwegian Ingrid Tandrevold was 1.5 minutes behind the leader and had accumulated an additional 45-second penalty for missing a target. It later became clear that these issues were caused by heart problems she experienced during the race.

Quote: "During the second loop, I had heart problems. It made shooting difficult, and I delayed for quite a while. After finishing the race, my heart didn’t fully stop. Then it was hard to ski as fast as I wanted. Now everything is fine. It happens quickly and passes quickly," Tandrevold told NRK in an interview.

Reminder: The Norwegian finished the race in 17th place, 12 seconds behind the time from the shooting range.
