Talleres Aim for Sudamericana Spot in Must-Win Clash Against São Paulo

Talleres travel to São Paulo on Tuesday for a decisive Copa Libertadores Group B clash at the Morumbi, with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. local time. As reported by Olé, the Argentine club is already out of contention for the Round of 16, but still has a shot at qualifying for the Copa Sudamericana playoffs.
The equation is clear: Talleres must win and hope Alianza Lima either draws or loses against Libertad in Paraguay. If both sides finish level on points, goal difference will decide the outcome—currently favoring the Córdoba side by two goals. Even if both teams lose, the number of goals scored could still shift the final standings.
Meanwhile, São Paulo have already secured a spot in the knockout stage but are not guaranteed top spot. They risk dropping to second only if they suffer a heavy defeat and Libertad earn a big win. Coach Luis Zubeldía has yet to confirm his starting lineup, but the Brazilian club is expected to field a competitive side.
Talleres, led once again by interim coach Mariano Levisman, will rely on the likes of Federico Girotti, Rubén Botta, and Valentín Depietri as they seek to extend their international campaign ahead of Diego Cocca’s arrival as head coach.
