The Czech Football Association continues its search for a new head coach for the national team following the squad's disappointing performance at the World Cup. According to iDNES.cz, the main candidate for the role was former Germany boss Jürgen Klinsmann, but it now appears unlikely that the German specialist will be appointed.
According to the source, federation CEO Pavel Nedvěd personally contacted Klinsmann and held talks with him. It is reported that the 61-year-old coach was willing to lower his financial demands for the opportunity to lead the Czech national team.
However, the situation changed on the very day of the negotiations. Reports indicate that the federation's leadership has decided against bringing in the renowned German manager and now intends to focus on a coach with a different profile. The priority is now to find a young, progressive, ambitious, and communicative coach rather than a big name.
For the record, Jürgen Klinsmann is one of the most prominent German coaches of recent decades. He led the German national team from 2004 to 2006, guiding them to bronze at their home World Cup. Later, he managed Bayern Munich, Toronto, the US national team—whom he took to the 2014 World Cup—Hertha Berlin, and most recently, the South Korea national team, which he left in February 2024.
