Romanian tennis player Simona Halep can now return to the game as she has won her appeal in the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

It has been revealed that the Sports Arbitration Court in Lausanne (CAS) has granted the athlete's appeal and reduced her doping suspension from four years to nine months. Halep's suspension came into effect in October 2022; thus, the former world number one can resume playing immediately as her suspension term ended on July 23, 2023.

It's worth mentioning that Simona Halep has also decided to sue the Canadian company Quantum Nutrition, which produces dietary supplements. The Romanian athlete believes that the use of these supplements is related to her four-year doping ban for violating anti-doping rules.

Halep is seeking compensation of over ten million dollars for potential damages. Roxadustat, found in her doping sample at the US Open 2022, is a prohibited substance that increases hemoglobin levels and promotes the production of red blood cells, enhancing endurance. The Romanian claims she took Quantum supplements during the tournament, but information about roxadustat was absent from the label.
