On March 13th, controversial rugby star Curtis Scott made his debut in heavyweight boxing.

In his debut match in the ring, Scott knocked out his former teammate Jozeph Leilua. Scott sent Leilua into knockout with a left hook in the second round and emerged from the ring as the victor.

The victory of the former rugby player was even more impressive after he turned out to be 30 kg lighter than his opponent, as revealed during the weigh-in.

"I was prepared for the knockout," Scott said, adding that Leilua's transition to a southpaw stance allowed him to "land a shot right down the middle."

Scott then called out AFL great boxer Barry Hall for his next fight. Hall is 21 years older than the former NRL star.

26-year-old Scott was a Melbourne Storm champion in 2017 and was considered a potential State of Origin player, but his rugby career was derailed by a series of off-field issues.

In 2022, he was sentenced to a 12-month corrective order after being found guilty on three charges against his former girlfriend, athlete Teia-Leigh Clarke, including assault occasioning bodily harm, common assault, and stalking or intimidation with intent to cause fear of physical harm.
