SAFA clarifies rumors about Raymond Mdaka's salary

On Tuesday, the South African Football Federation appeared before the parliamentary committee for Sport, Arts and Culture to answer questions regarding the salary of coach Raymond Mdaka.
TheSAFA delegation led by President Danny Jordaan received questions from the parliamentary committee for Sport about financial and technical issues such as VAR, inequality, and lack of sponsorship.
SAFA has a real issue with Mdaka's salary!
The South African Football Association had appointed Coach Mdaka as Amajita's technical director and he is leading them to the Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt for the first time in the country's history.
But this success was overshadowed by one thing: the news that Coach Mdaka's salary was revealed by ormer SAFA technical director Walter Steenbok who spoke on the subject with great candor.

During an interview with Metro FM, Steenbok revealed that he does not earn more than R25,000, a clarification that was met with outrage by the general football-loving public in Africa due to the comparison between Hugo Broos' salary with Bafana and the Amajita coach's salary.
Makashule Gana asks LYDIA MONYEPAO questions!
In a revealing exchange, South African Football Association (SAFA) CEO Lydia Monyepao addressed pressing questions about national team coaches' earnings, setting the record straight on compensation disparities.
When pressed on whether Amajita's U-20 coach earns below R30,000 monthly, Monyepao firmly denied the claim, confirming his salary exceeds that threshold. However, she clarified it does not surpass R50,000—a stark contrast to Bafana Bafana’s coach, who commands over R1 million monthly.
The discussion took a pointed turn when questioned about performance incentives. Monyepao revealed that despite Amajita’s historic 2023 U-20 AFCON triumph, no victory bonuses were allocated, underscoring SAFA’s current reward framework.
This transparency highlights the financial hierarchies within South African football, sparking broader conversations about investment in developmental teams versus senior squads.
