Sacramento Republic FC has officially filed plans with the city for its new stadium project in downtown’s Railyards district, aiming to break ground on a modern venue set to open in 2027. As reported by KCRA News, the proposal outlines a phased development over 14.7 acres, beginning with 12,000 seats and potentially expanding to 20,000 in a second phase.
The design, led by Machete Group, MANICA, and House & Robertson Architects, envisions an open-air rectangular stadium with modern fan amenities, VIP access, retail, dining, press areas, and multiple open plazas. A canopy roof is planned for phase two, adding weather protection and boosting the structure’s overall footprint.
Fan engagement clearly influenced the layout, which includes video screens and speakers in outdoor plazas, food truck zones, bike valet options, and shaded social areas. The stadium will feature three main levels: field, concourse, and club levels, plus a suite and press level with potential expansion to 27 suites.
The project also aims to exceed green building standards through sustainability efforts focused on energy, water efficiency, and reducing heat islands. Though scaled down from the original MLS-oriented plan, this stadium remains a major step forward for Republic FC’s ambitions in American soccer.
The Sacramento City Council is expected to review and vote on the plan at a key meeting scheduled for June 10.
