On November 15, the Spanish national team played their fifth qualifying match for the World Cup. In Tbilisi, De la Fuente's men faced off against Georgia.
The Spaniards cruised to a convincing victory, with goals from Oyarzabal, Zubimendi, and Ferran Torres all coming in the first half. After the break, the Real Sociedad forward completed his brace, and the final whistle sealed a triumphant result for De la Fuente's squad.
Remarkably, this result allowed La Roja to set a new all-time record. Spain are now unbeaten in 30 consecutive matches. The previous best was a 29-match streak between 2010 and 2013 under Vicente Del Bosque.
The current run has been ongoing since March 2023. The last time Spain tasted defeat was in a Euro 2024 qualifier against Scotland. Since then, the team has racked up 27 wins and three draws.
It's worth noting that in a parallel match, Turkey defeated Bulgaria, so it's still too early to officially confirm Spain's qualification for the World Cup. On the other hand, it's all but certain: for Turkey to overtake Spain, they'd need to beat them by at least an seven-goal margin in the final game.
