Real Madrid defender Dean Huijsen will miss Spain’s World Cup 2026 qualifier against Georgia.
Details: According to The Athletic, the 20-year-old felt discomfort in his groin during Friday’s training session and was left out of the squad as a precaution. He is set to undergo a medical examination in the coming days.
Huijsen started twice for Spain in September, playing a key role in victories against Bulgaria and Turkey. However, in October he suffered another injury, missing games versus Georgia and Bulgaria as well as several matches for Real Madrid.
This season, Huijsen has made 13 appearances for the Madrid side after joining from Bournemouth for £50 million during the summer transfer window.
Spain face Georgia today in World Cup qualifying, with kickoff set for 18:00 Central European Time.
