PSG under threat: UEFA may deny license due to conflict with Mbappe

Kylian Mbappe's legal team has approached UEFA with a demand to exclude Paris Saint-Germain from next season's Champions League. The reason is the club's debt to the player amounting to 55 million euros.
Since Mbappe's transfer to Real Madrid at the start of this season, his lawyers have been seeking the payment of the remaining part of his salary. Despite the French professional football league acknowledging the striker's claim last October, the French Football Federation rejected his request.
Now, the lawyers have decided to address UEFA directly. According to Mbappe's chief lawyer, Delphine Verheyden, PSG has not fulfilled its contractual obligations and has taken no steps to resolve the situation since February 2024.
"He joined PSG in the summer of 2017, extended his contract in the spring of 2022. All terms were signed and adhered to, except one — the club has not paid the remaining amount. We're talking about 55 million euros," Verheyden stated in an interview with Goal.
According to her, the club openly refuses to comply with mandatory decisions. In this regard, the player's defense insists on harsher measures: seizing funds and revoking PSG's UEFA license.
"UEFA is currently reviewing club applications for participation in the next season. One of the key conditions is the absence of salary arrears to staff and players. We were obliged to report the situation, and now we await their response," the lawyer added.
