The South African Betway Premiership has just wrapped up the 22nd round of the 2025/2026 season.

The round kicked off with another victory for Mamelodi’s players. The reigning South African champions had little trouble dispatching Marumo Gallants at home.

Saturday, March 21, brought three more clashes. AmaZulu snatched a late win over Polokwane, Stellenbosch handled Chippa United on their home turf, and Kaizer Chiefs secured three points against the league's bottom side, Magesi.

Sunday saw three matches end 1-0: home wins for Golden Arrows, Siwelele, and Durban City. In another fixture, Orlando Pirates demolished TS Galaxy away, achieving a historic 6-0 victory.

Dailysports presents the symbolic team of matchday 22 of the South African Betway Premiership.

Goalkeeper: Edward Maova (Golden Arrows)

Maova only recently reclaimed his spot as Golden Arrows’ number one, but his performances prove the coach made the right call. Against Sekhukhune, the experienced Namibian international made three key saves and kept a clean sheet, playing a crucial role in his team’s victory.

Right-back: Kazie Godswill (Stellenbosch)

Godswill patrolled the right flank tirelessly and stood out as one of the most influential players on the pitch. He handled his defensive duties well and was a constant threat going forward. The Nigerian won 11 of 17 duels, delivered two key passes, and created a goalscoring chance, earning himself an assist.

Centre-back: Taariq Fielies (AmaZulu)

Fielies produced another solid display, helping AmaZulu keep a clean sheet. The 33-year-old remains a rock at the back, and against Polokwane he registered one tackle, one interception, and seven clearances. Taariq also blocked two shots and won 67% of his duels.

Centre-back: Mosa Lebusa (Stellenbosch)

The 33-year-old was deemed surplus to requirements at Mamelodi Sundowns and moved to Stellenbosch in the winter, immediately locking down a starting spot in central defense. Lebusa has delivered top-notch performances in most games, including the clash with Chippa United, where he was pivotal in the win: one tackle, three interceptions, 12 clearances, two blocked shots, and he won every duel.

Left-back: Neo Rapoo (Siwelele)

The 20-year-old South Africa youth international has firmly established himself on Siwelele's left side and delivered another solid outing. Rapoo was instrumental in the win over Orbit College, providing two key passes, six crosses, and recording one shot on goal. He also created a goalscoring chance and completed a successful dribble.

Central midfielder: Teboho Mokoena (Mamelodi Sundowns)

The experienced Bafana Bafana midfielder started on the bench but was thrown into the action right after halftime. Mokoena proved decisive in the win over Marumo, converting both of his chances and delivering three points for the “Brazilians.” He contributed defensively as well and was deservedly named man of the match.

Central midfielder: Lebohang Maboe (Kaizer Chiefs)

Maboe put in a massive shift against Magesi, anchoring the midfield with composure and strength. Thanks to his efforts, the opposition barely threatened the Amakhosi goal, and the experienced midfielder was rightly named man of the match. Maboe relentlessly fought for the ball, made key tackles, and even took shots on goal.

Central midfielder: Mfundo Vilakazi (Kaizer Chiefs)

For the second match in a row, Vilakazi came off the bench and made a decisive impact. Last round he provided a crucial assist for the winning goal, and this time he got on the scoresheet himself, sealing the Chiefs’ win over Magesi.

Right winger: Kamogelo Sebelebele (Orlando Pirates)

Ouaddou has been using Sebelebele as a right wing-back, and the 23-year-old has covered every blade of grass on that flank. The same was true against TS Galaxy, where Kamogelo was one of the standouts. He scored against his former club and was excellent in winning the ball, dominating duels and winning 70% of them.

Left winger: Relebohile Mofokeng (Orlando Pirates)

Mofokeng is steadily becoming the main star of the Betway Premiership, once again showing his full range on the pitch. The Pirates’ prodigy opened the scoring against TS Galaxy with a direct free kick and added two more after halftime, notching his first career hat-trick. Remarkably, Mofokeng has already broken his personal scoring record in the Betway Premiership—he now has 7 goals and 5 assists in 19 matches.

Centre forward: Tshegofatso Mabasa (Stellenbosch)

The on-loan striker from Orlando Pirates did exactly what his coach expected. Hunt put Mabasa in the starting lineup again, and he repaid the faith with two goals before halftime. Those strikes proved decisive, securing three points in a tough match against Chippa United.

Head coach: Abdeslam Ouaddou (Orlando Pirates)

Last round, the Pirates unexpectedly slipped against Sivelile, but this weekend they bounced back emphatically by thrashing TS Galaxy. Ouaddou's men played nearly the entire match with a numerical advantage, firing six unanswered goals past their hosts. This win was historic for Orlando, as they'd never before won by such a margin away in the Betway Premiership. It's also worth noting they now boast the league's best attack and defense.
